Written shortly after moving from Scotland to Milwaukee, WI. on a 6 month temporary assignment that would last forever, within 2 months of arriving, I had met some very good new friends and formed a new band. This was the start of a brand new life.
Since first recording it in 1999 for "The road to destiny", as a folk song, I had a nagging feeling that it could have been a country song. Now it is.
I think about my hometown once in a while, haven’t been there for a long, long time,
Back home
I think about people I used to know, think about places I used to go
Back home, the place that I called home.
The place that I called home.
Chorus.
They say, home is a place where you hang your hat,
but I don't have one, so I guess that's that
They say, home is a place where your family's at,
but mine's not round here, so I guess that's that.
Some memories are good and some are bad, Some are happy and some are sad, of home
I miss the mountains I miss the sea; I wish my babies could be here with me,
At home, this place that's my new home.
This place is my new home.
Chorus
Been traveling round as long as I live, been a hundred places and they've all got something to give.
Met a lot of good people, women and men, even met a few that I could call a friend,
and they ask,
where do you call home?
Now that I'm here in this fine old town, I'm happy to be here, made it my hometown, it's home.
There's a lady round here waiting for my heart, and when I find her , I'll give my love a home.
Give my love a home, I’ll give my love a home.
Chorus
