The road to destiny Take the weight off your feet and tell your story to me I want to hear all about your travels and every place you’ve seen. Tell me about, how you came to be hereabouts Was it chance or just a twist of fate, on the road to destiny CHORUS What brings us here, are we following our noses or our heels. Chasing down the sweet smell of success, or backing out of all our yesterdays. Why are we here, following the road to destiny, Never knowing if that road will take us, anywhere, at all. Why don’t you take off your shoes, sit down and listen to me. I’ve got stories to tell, of heart break and hell, and some so funny you won’t believe. CHORUS Bridge. Look back down the winding road, and try to make the most, Of all that you have seen and done, don’t run from your own ghost. It’s only a shadow on the ground, it carries the wisdom you have found It’s there to keep you company, wherever you are bound. I know how it feels, when you have to travel alone. But sometimes you have to look inside, to find the path you should be on. CHORUS

THE CALLIN’ O’ YOUR NAME Bonnie lass, I love ye, but, Ah cannie be wi ye. For I must travel many miles, my fortune out to seek. Lassie, you are lovely, as the hills o’ ma fair land, But I cannie bide here wi’ ye tae ask ye for yer hand. Lassie ah hae bairns o’ mine, mair beautious than the floowers, An ah ken the love that you dae feel, towards the wan that’s yours. Ah ken fine weel, ye cannie rip the flowers fae their bed, And expect them, aye, tae flourish, when you plant them ower again. For ye ken ah micht be moving on, in time, and time again, Maybe tae ma hameland, beloved shores ah ken. Lassie, dinnae greet noo, in yer favour, it’s nae shame, That ah wid venture, ow’r the sea, tae the comfort o’ ma hame. CHORUS For the call o’ my ain kindred, the call o’ ma true hame, is the only sound that I can hear, ower the callin’ O’ yer name. But dinnae ye be weary, dinnae be in fear, for your memr’ys worth a lot mair word than ah can think o’ here. For you’ve gein me worldly pleasures, dispelled ma worldly fears, An the love that ye ha gein tae me has brought me oft tae tears. For ye gave, and gave, and gave again, and never asked for mair, Than a lover’s kiss, a fond embrace and love tae ca’ yer ain. Yer a force o’ nature, Bonnie lass, take care o’ yer guild hame, An you an’ yours, an aye take mind, guid nature’s in yer name. For ye have been sae kind an’ fine, a lover wild, and true. An ah, kin ne’er e’er hope tae find a love sae braw as you. CHORUS

A Place called home. Written by Duncan McLauchlan, ©1998 I think about my hometown once in a while, haven’t been there for a long, long time, Back home I think about people I used to know, think about places I used to go Back home, the place that I called home. The place that I called home. Chorus. They say, home is a place where you hang your hat, but I don't have one, so I guess that's that They say, home is a place where your family's at, but mine's not round here, so I guess that's that. Some memories are good and some are bad, Some are happy and some are sad, of home I miss the mountains I miss the sea; I wish my babies could be here with me, At home, this place that's my new home. This place is my new home. Chorus Been traveling round as long as I live, been a hundred places and they've all got something to give. Met a lot of good people, women and men, even met a few that I could call a friend, and they ask, where do you call home? Now that I'm here in this fine old town, I'm happy to be here, made it my hometown, it's home. There's a lady round here waiting for my heart, and when I find her , I'll give my love a home. Give my love a home, I’ll give my love a home. Chorus

THE BUCKIE BRONCO © Duncan McLauchlan 1999 (lyric and arrangement updated 2020) Duncan7222@gmail.com Monday morning, wake-up time, a lost weekend left way behind. The weekly struggle begins again, I’m never gonna drink that much Buckie again, Oh no. Friday night must’ve been a blast, tried to beat The Buckie but came in last, Saturday night must’ve been alright, but I can’t remember cos I was steamin’ again. CHORUS. 1 Must’ve had a good time, must’ve had a blast, I wish I could remember the dark and hazy past I drank Whisky and beer, smoked some grass. Now I’m lying here on my arse again. Sunday morning thought I would die, couldn’t even look myself in the eye. Didn’t wanna get up out of my bed, the body’s alive but I’m brain dead again. CHORUS 2. Must’ve had a good time, must’ve had a blast, I wish I could remember the dark and hazy past. I drank Whisky and beer, smoked some grass. Now I’m lying here on my arse again. Ch 2 b Monday’s bad, Tuesday’s even worse, Wednesday, half-way, I don’t feel so bad. Thursday, almost there, another one to go, Thank God it’s Friday, now here I go again, And again, and again CHORUS 3 Must’ve had a good time, must’ve had a blast, I wish I could remember the dark and hazy past. I drank Whisky and beer, smoked some grass. Now I’m lying here on my arse again w CHORUS 3 b, Monday’s bad, Tuesday’s even worse, Wednesday, half-way, I don’t feel so bad. Thursday, almost there, another one to go. Thank God it’s Friday, now here I go again, And again, and again, I’m gonna ride the Buckie Bronco again, I’m gonna ride the Buckie Bronco again and again, I’m gonna ride the Buckie Bronco again and again and again, I’m gonna ride the Buckie Bronco again and again and again and again, I’m gonna ride the Buckie Bronco again.

A TRACE OF FEAR I’m trying to remember, how it used to be, when folk could walk home safe at night, without a trace of fear. I’m trying to picture this old town, the way it was before, when we were free to go our way, without a trace of fear. . CHORUS Now every day there’s violence, around us everywhere. There’s drugs and thugs and thievery, no-one seems to care. May children play safe in daylight, women walk home safe at night, the old sleep soundly in their beds, without a trace of fear. I’m trying to remember, how it used to be, When folk could leave their doors unlocked, without a trace of fear. Can you remember how it was, when police could still uphold the law, criminals were few and scorned, before the curse of fear. CHORUS How can we ever change all this, and stop the rot we see. It’s certain that no single man, can change society. We must stand together, all decent people here, and take the message to the streets, that we won’t live in fear. CHORUS

FROM FATHER TO SON Wake up son, its time to rise and forge another day, Go, rise to the occasion, go bravely on your way. Get up on your feet, and tell yourself, its not just another day, Get out there, and do what you do, and do it your own way. CHORUS Don’t just do it, do your best, Do it different from all the rest. Just keep the earth beneath your feet, But make your mark, and make it deep. Just remember there’s more to life, than work and toil each day, So get out there and find your fun, then make it come your way. Make the most of every minute, most of every day, And always have a vision, to guide you on your way. CHORUS For many a year I struggled, in a hole deep in the ground, Trying to make a living, bringing home an honest pound. It was cold and wet and dangerous, digging coal out by the ton, But, I worked with music in my heart, and I’m giving it to you son. CHORUS I know that you’ve been living in hope, for many a weary year, To live your life to what you love, making music and good cheer. So now you understand the truth, that’s been hidden so many ways, From Father to Son, the music lives on, we’ll be playing for many a day. CHORUS

BONNIE IS HER NAME Bonnie is her name, and is her nature, she comes to me as if she were my own. She is woman, she is girl, she is peace to one and all, She is my sanctuary in the storm. She is my sanctuary in the storm. CHORUS She is poet and she writes, of the joys and of the fights, That condemn us all, to conscience in our life. The epitomy of free, and the roots of every tree, That holds the dust we walk upon, from crumbling at our feet. Bonnie is her name, she is the essence, of a amother, nature, could not live without. She is wild, she is bold, she is animal, behold, The way she loves her child wth all her soul. The way she loves her child with all her soul. CHORUS Bonnie is her name and is her body. She is lover, she is friend, maybe for life, And if we should ever part, she’ll be always in my heart. As the one who’s name means beauty in my life. CHORUS

Rachel 04:39
To Rachel. Written by Duncan McLauchlan © 1998 Rachel my dear, as I hold you so near, I can feel your soft breath on my face. Fruit of our love, sent from Heaven above, to delight us in so many ways. CHORUS Lovely and bright, as a star in the night, and a smile like the sun shining clear. Rachel, my dear, as I hold you so near, I could cry with the joy that you bring. Our precious child, human nature so mild, how we treasure the peace that you bring. Well always show, how we cherish you so, how you’ve made broken hearts start to sing. In each tiny sound there is joy to be found, in your cries and your laughter my dear, And when you sleep there’s a silence so deep, and a blanket of peace all around CHORUS Rachel my dear, how we treasure you near, our devotion must surely be clear, Everyone knows, how much we love you so, we will let it grow on through the years CHORUS

THE TIME FOR PEACE IS HERE Some deserve to be remembered, for the good that they have done. Some deserve to be remembered, for their passion and their love. Some deserve to be forgotten, for the killing they have done. Murdering fathers and their wives, murdering daughters and their sons. There’s no such thing as right or wrong, for men hell bent on making war. Politicians can’t explain, what all the killing has been for. Close the mouths of those, whose lips, preach bitterness, distrust and hate For culture steeped in bigotry, can’t be part of Ireland’s fate CHORUS Stamp out the fires of hatred, we don’t want their flames near, So, throw away your guns and bombs, the time for peace is here. Stamp out the fires of hatred, we don’t want their flames near, So, throw away your guns and bombs, the time for peace is here. Whatever your cause or staunch belief, let all the death and bloodshed cease. Where’s the sense in fighting on, when we just need to live in peace. Open up their ears to hear, the voice of folk like you and me, Who only want to see an end, to thirty years of misery. CHORUS
